Allium Purple Rain Bulbs
Delivery: End Aug to Dec
Allium Purple Rain features large spherical heads densely packed with small purple florets, gracefully held at the top of tall sturdy stems.
Richly deserving of its RHS Award of Garden Merit, this cross between allium Purple Sensation and Christophii is a fantastic way to add height and texture to the late spring and early summer garden. Particularly eye-catching planted in bold groups, this ornamental onion also looks very striking scattered amongst grasses and low-growing hardy perennials in sunny borders and wild meadows where it will happily naturalise. Reminiscent of a firework captured mid-explosion, its blooms are fabulous featured in fresh and dried flower bouquets; they are also magnets for pollinators!
Alliums and their decorative seedheads are a great way to bring interest to the autumn and winter garden, whilst also providing wildlife with a much needed source of food and shelter during this challenging time of the year. Last but not least, they offer the added benefit of being deer and rabbit resistant!
