These Allium Mount Everest bulbs will bring structure and architectural elegance to the garden border. When the white flowers have faded the seed heads can be left to provide added interest. Deer and Rabbit resistant.
Mount Everest are a tall white allium bulb. A round ball made up from small white flowers each on a stem of 4 cm. Each flower radiates from the top of the 1 metre tall strong and sturdy stem. It’s a miracle how these flowers stay upright, but these long and empty stems are one of the most useful features of the allium flower. Acting as a pedestal it raises these flowers high over the summer bedding plants. Not only does it give the white flowers an easy landing for bees but elevates your garden.
Flowering in June, many perennials haven’t really got going and the garden can be a little green once the spring flowers have finished. Allium Mount Everest flowers along with Foxgloves, Iris, Eremurus and Peonies so that they are joined by some good tall flowers.
Alliums do produce some messy foliage. During spring the leaves are big and broad, often silvery green. However, once the flower appears the foliage begins to die back. To minimise this consider how you plant the bulbs in autumn.Space them out so the foliage doesn’t choke out plants around them and position them towards the back of a bed to hide the dying leaves.
