Red. The outside of the early flower has a silver-greyish glow which will disappear as the flower matures. The large flowers are upright and bell shaped, with a small touch of white at the base, inside at the base is a soft starburst of yellow and deep maroon black. Tulip Aximensis is the perfect tulip if you want late flowering tulips, flowering in early to late May it will extend the spring season. Aximensis will come back year on year, give it place in the garden where it will be undisturbed and will happily naturalise. This lovely heirloom tulip origins are from Croix d’Aime in the savoy region of France.
