Rusty burnt orange hues give Copper Image its reputation for a stylish, chic tulip. The sort of tulip you see in magazines, beautifully shot in a dramatic interior. It is the perfect colour to blend with purples, blacks, greens or maroons.
Tulip Copper image is 40cm tall. It is a good height for beds and pots. To cut a tulip many people lift the bulb from the ground to gain extra height. However, because the flower is packed with so many petals the heads can be quite heavy.
Double tulip bulbs do produce a nice thick stem and are quite resilient to wind in the garden.
Many tulip bulbs can be planted in a group of 60-70 per square metre. You can plant them closer in pots. It is worth imagining how large the flower heads are going to grow so you don't over crowd them. Copper image will be approximately 12cm across.
Plant in autumn between October and November in well draining soil. Water regularly in spring.
We recommend lifting in summer once the tulips have finished. Decorative tulips need a good size to perform well. We supply size 11/12 bulbs which are ideal for a perfect flower.
