La Belle Epoque

To buy a tulip bulb as special as La Belle Epoque you need to start with a good size. Tulip bulbs put on the best performance with a bulb size of 11 or more. This means the circumference of the bulb is 11cm. Our bulbs are graded 11/12 which means they are between 11 and 12cm in circumference and still great value.

Tulip La Belle Epoque is a large flowering double tulip, which means it requires a little bit more energy to produce the best and most reliable flowers. The flower heads last a long time and change as they mature.

A delicate blend of salmon and peach, gently turning to a deep and rich copper colour. The colours are so perfectly blended by the petal that it is hard to exactly pin point what colour it is.

A wonderful peony style tulip, the double petals create a very large cup that will fill your hand.

Why are they so special? As with any tulip or flower bulb, you have to experience them ‘in the flesh’ to appreciate their beauty fully.

These tulips are grown in limited numbers but demand is very high so order them quickly.

How to plant La Belle Epoque

There is no special methods for planting these premium flower bulbs. Treat them as you would any other tulip bulb. Tulip bulbs don’t need fertiliser but it can help produce a strong and healthy flower.

Use well draining soil and plant 12cm deep. Planting in autumn, the best time is around the end of October once the soil has cooled down.

Water when planted and leave them until spring. The only exception is if the weather is very dry and the soil drys out. Generally the moisture level in the soil is enough for the bulb to form roots.

Water regularly in spring.

Try planting with other similar colours with tulips like Copper Image. Or plant them with contrasting but equally dramatic tulips such as Queen of Night. It is a good way to make the most of the limited bulbs by using them as an accent among other tulips.
