Camassia Leichtlinii Semi-Plena have stems of over a metre tall. The flowers begin from about half way up the stem and open sequentially from the bottom. Prolonging the flowering time of these grassland flowers from North America.
Semi-Plena means semi double, which is an unusual phrase. The petals are indeed doubled up but still maintain some of the original single form.
Semi-Plena are a soft cream colour, and despite their size and presence they don’t dominate the garden with bright colours.
They are a hardy bulb and will multiply over the years. Just make sure they are planted in moist but well draining soil. They enjoy the sun but can tolerate a bit of shade.
