Not In Season
Achilleas are a wonderfully fashionable plant offering many colours and shapes. They are an interesting perennial with flat topped heads consisting of sprays of many small flowers. The ferny leaves below, with their grey to green tint, offer a splendid contrast to the flowers. They do well in sunny spots towards the back of the border. They also work well in wild flower gardens. They should be handled with gloves as they can cause some skin irritation.
Try planting them with other Perennial Plants like Helenium, Rudbeckia or spiky plants like Eryngium or Veronica for interest. Achillea also make good cut flowers and are attractive to butterflies, hoverflies and beneficial insects.
