  • The flowers of Allium Schubertii bulbs are amazing, also know as tumbleweed onion, when the flower fades and dies the flowerer head detaches from the stem and rolls around in the wind scattering the seed over a wide area. Deer and Rabbit resistant

  • Alliums are best planted in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, in a sheltered, open site. Tthey have a dislike of exposed, cold and wet conditions. 

    Allium Ursinum (wild garlic) bulbs are suitable for shade to semi shade.

    Plant smaller alliums around 8-15 cm deep with spacing of around 5-10 cm (around 75-100 per square meter)

    For larger taller varieties, plant around 15-20 cm deep with spacing or around 15-20 cm.

    Allium will grow in deep pots but use a good multi-purpose compost enriched with John Innes No.3 and grit.

    Lift and divide congested clumps after the flowers and foliage have died back.
