Baptisia australis is also know as false indigo, it’s a showy perennial with tall upright stems with pea-like flowers, when the flowers fade it has attractive black seed pods which can be left on for added interest especially in the autumn. Baptisias are long lived Plants which needs little maintenance; it looks good planted in a meadow or garden perfect for the back of the border a good drought tolerant perennial plant.

Try planting with other Plants like Alcea, Gladioli Byzantinum, Paeonies, Euphorbia and Astrantia, Rudbeckia and Helenium.
