Allium Unifolium

Bright rose with a spray of around 20 papery star shaped flowers. Allium Roseum are easy to grow and will give a light airy appearance to low early flowering perennials, also know as rose-flowered garlic bulbs, flower size around 7 cm.

  • Alliums are best planted in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, in a sheltered, open site. Tthey have a dislike of exposed, cold and wet conditions. 

    Allium Ursinum (wild garlic) bulbs are suitable for shade to semi shade.

    Plant smaller alliums around 8-15 cm deep with spacing of around 5-10 cm (around 75-100 per square meter)

    For larger taller varieties, plant around 15-20 cm deep with spacing or around 15-20 cm.

    Allium will grow in deep pots but use a good multi-purpose compost enriched with John Innes No.3 and grit.

    Lift and divide congested clumps after the flowers and foliage have died back.
