1. Cafe Au Lait

No surprises that this classic dahlia is right at the top. It features a lot in magazines and social media. It is a perfect blend of cream, white and pink with beautiful reflexed florets. A large flower that never fails to impress.

2. Great Silence

A mid-sized decorative dahlia type, blending soft pink and apricot colours. This colour combination is a favourite in tulips too. Have a look at Menton, one of our best selling tulips. It’s clearly a winning combination. These dahlia flowers will be perfect for cutting, promoting new flowers all summer long from this prolific dahlia.

3. Wine Eyed Jill

You have to feel sorry for Jill, whoever she is. There might be some consolation in that this is a gorgeous dahlia flower. Largely peach coloured but with a bold accent of purple as the florets emerge from the centre. Dramatic colour combinations like this are really useful when planning a garden, they can add accents to complimentary colours. Try planting with bright peaches and pinks, or brighten up a dramatic purple bed.

4. Labyrinth

The labyrinth series of dahlias are exquisite. Each flower is a masterpiece of curled petals with subtly changing colours. If this is the dahlia for you also try Labyrinth Two-tone.

5. Waltzing Matilda

Broad fiery petals surround an open centre in this semi double dahlia form. The first dark leaved dahlia on our list. Dark leaved dahlias are not only useful for adding a variety of colour to your beds, they also act as a dramatic backdrop for some of the most intense dahlia flowers. We will definitely be planting this one in our garden this year.

6. Cornel Brons

A theme of peach and orange is prevalent in this list. This is a perfect ball dahlia in these bronze-like colours. These colours combined create a beautiful glow. Mixed with the entrancing symmetry of ball dahlias, this is a very interesting plant to grow this year.

7. Copper Boy

Much like Cornel Bronze above, Copper Boy is an excellent example of a ball dahlia. Perhaps more striking with it’s bold deep orange colours. How good would this look in a vase?

8. Bacardi

Probably less likely to give you a headache, this Bacardi will bring a lot of joy to the garden. Flecked purple petals intensifying towards the centre of the flower make this dahlia an instantly recognisable. Try Wine Eyed Jill as above for a similar effect.

9. Thomas A. Edison

He may not have invented the light bulb but this dahlia will light up your garden. Electrifying purple colours on a large decorative flower. This is where the association with Mr Edison probably ends but this is a brilliant dahlia to grow. A very beautiful flower!

10. Arthur Hambly

Dinner plate dahlias are a phenomenal sight. Large billowing flowers the size of a dinner plate stand amongst tall and sturdy dahlia plants. It is advised to steak the stems because these flowers can get very heavy. Arthur Hambly is a voluptuous flower in soft lilacs and purple.
